President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin presents the “Pushkin” Medal to Leyla Aliyeva
Established with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Baku City Executive Authority, “Toplan” Care For Homeless Dogs Centre held an event, October 4, dedicated to the World Animal Day.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.
Animal rights advocates, children being educated in children homes and boarding schools, as well as those in need of special care, pupils from various schools, and students participated in the event held in partnership with “Azercell” Telecom Company, in a sports and entertainment park complex in Khatai district.
Participants became familiarized with actions taken within the framework of the joint project by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Baku City Executive Authority on improving works with homeless dogs.
Various entertainment and enlightening zones have been created in the park’s territory. Visitors watched the show of service and fancy dogs, having a chance to become closely acquainted with animals in a small zoo. Moreover, performances of the Azerbaijan State Young Spectators Theatre and the Puppet Theatre, a circus show, enlightening and entertaining programmes, relay-races, competitions and other entertainments were presented for children.
Realization of a series of events started within the framework of the joint project by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Baku City Executive Authority on improving works with homeless dogs. Reconstruction works are being carried out currently at the Sanitary Department in Balakhany. “Toplan” Care for Homeless Dogs Centre to be constructed in Balakhany settlement will be provided with state-of-the-art medical equipment and medical preparations for conducting examinations, sterilization, treatment, and inserting microchips into animals. Trainings will be conducted for the staff to be employed here with participation of foreign specialists. The project aims at ensuring the security of citizens, taking care of homeless dogs, as well as changing the public’s attitude towards them.
A series of enlightening works would be carried out over the course of the project’s implementation. The enlightening works provide for organization of various social events and exhibitions associated with animals, making animation films and social video trailers, billboards, and electronic presentations.
After the entertainment programme arranged in the sports and entertainment park, dedicated to the World Animal Day, children, together with Leyla Aliyeva, visited also the Live Life exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.
The exhibition was arranged following Leyla Aliyeva’s initiative.
The exposition aims at drawing attention to the environmental issues, protection of nature, and enlightening the public on the role of art in this field.
