Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
Opening of an international scientific and practical conference on “Nasimi’s spiritual legacy in the historical and cultural context of the Orient in Middle Ages” took place in the building of the Asian and African Countries Institute under the Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov, in the framework of the Nasimi – Poetry, Art and Morality Festival, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the conference’s opening.
Director of the Asian and African Countries Institute Igor Abylgaziyev and ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu spoke at the conference.
Then students of the University read poems by Nasimi in various languages, and sang songs by Azerbaijani composers. A musical and poetic show named “Merhaba” was presented by Azerbaijani actors.
The conference will continue its work on November 20. Conference attendees will listen to lectures on “Nasimi Festival: Experience on Dynamic Interpretation of Ideological and Cultural Heritage”, “Nasimi and Yung Gus. Cultural Union of the East and West”, “Nasimi Language – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” and other topics.
Along with speeches analysing Nasimi’s creativity, the literary and philosophical legacy of the poet, discussions will also be held on the spirituality of the contemporary youth, and advancement of the relations between the two countries’ youth.
