We've been setting this exhibition up for nearly two years. I believe that its language – the language of Art – eloquently conveys the great accomplishments our country has made in all spheres of achievement.
Opening of the exhibition called “Garabaghnameh - Pages of the History” by People’s Artist, professor Arif Huseynov, in connection with the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide took place at the Contemporary Art Museum, February 26.
Over 50 works of the artist are displayed at the exhibition, realized with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva visited the exhibition.
Talking about the exhibition’s significance, director of the Contemporary Art Museum Khayyam Abdinov said the works being displayed at the exposition are based on historical materials. The Albanian Church, views of historical sites, and portraits of historical personalities are pictured on these works. The Turkmenchay Treaty, alteration of Albanian churches, and compositions about Khojaly are reflected in the works.

Description of historical realities in such works as “A Letter by Peter the 1st”, “The Turkmenchay Treaty”, “Shot-down Statues”, “The Garabagh War”, “Panahali Khan”, “Folk Musicians” by the artist’s imagination is quite attractive and memorable. All the works displayed at the exhibition have been made in the engraving style. The exhibition has been set up on the basis of historical facts, as a whole, being of enlightening nature.
For long years, the artist has spent part of his time to working with the young generation, children and juveniles, training new artists for the future of the Azerbaijani fine arts. By his works, the artist describes the rich inner world of the Azerbaijani people, and its character. They are based on historical materials. The works included in the series describe the Albanian Church, historical facts, views of historical sites, and portraits of historical figures.
