President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin presents the “Pushkin” Medal to Leyla Aliyeva
On May 8, an exhibition called “My way passes through Garabagh” opened in the Baku Book Centre, and presentation of the same-name catalogue took place.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.
Opening the ceremony, director of the Baku Book Centre Gunel Rzayeva informed that the exhibition coincided with the 27th anniversary of the occupation of Shusha, one of the beautiful corners of Azerbaijan.
G.Rzayeva noted that some 40 works are demonstrated at the exhibition called “My way passes through Garabagh”, a joint project by the Book Centre and “My Way” Child and Juveniles Creative Centre. Paintings being displayed here belong to young artists of 12 to 18 years of age. These young people are of USA nationality, and none of them have ever been to Garabagh. Although parents of some of them used to live in Azerbaijan, majority of these children have never been to this country. Although these children have never seen Garabagh, in their paintings, they pictured this paradise very beautifully, and lovingly. As if a spirit is wandering in these works. Thanks to the endeavours and organizational ability of Alyona Badalova, the director of the Creativity centre, children have copied Garabagh on linen, using oil paint in the course of a month.
Founder and director of the Creativity Centre non-commercial organization Alyona Badalova gave information about the project.
Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Writers Union, People’s writer Anar Rzayev, rector of the Uzeir Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy, People’s Artist Farhad Badalbeyli, secretary of the Azerbaijan Artists Union, People’s artist Aghali Ibrahimov shared their views of the exhibition, dedicated to the theme of Garabagh, which coincides with the anniversary of the occupation of Shusha, the cultural cradle of Azerbaijan.
Then, in the artistic part of the event, winners and laureates of the “Simurg” Child Music Festival, as well as students of the music school named after Bulbul performed.
