Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
Charity actions were held in connection with the New Year, following the initiative of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, head of the Foundation’s Russian Representative Office Leyla Aliyeva, in Moscow and more than 25 regions of Russia. The Russian Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation treats children deprived of parental care and diseased children with special care, and they never remain without attention on the eve of holidays.
Being faithful to the tradition this year too, employees of the Representative Office visited the Centre for Scientific and Practical Medical Aid to Children of the Russian capital and a number of children homes. The charity action was realized with support from the Social and Cultural Initiatives Foundation of Russia and the Holy Saviour Jesus Cathedral.
The Centre for Scientific and Practical Medical Aid to Children has been functioning for 9 years. The Centre has been headed by academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Andrey Pritiko. Warmly greeting employees of the Foundation, A. Pritiko said he has had close personal and scientific relations with Azerbaijan. Talking his childhood memories associated with our country, A.Pritiko said: “I often recall Baku and Sumgait. My grandfather had worked at one of Sumgait’s factories. For this reason, I used to travel to Azerbaijan quite often. I am amazed at sincerity and kindness of Azerbaijanis”.
The academician underlined that national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev was a person of genius, and his services to preservation of historic friendship relations between our nations are unchallengeable.
Then employees of the Representative Office met with children being treated at the Centre’s diagnostics, oncology, neurosurgery and rehabilitation departments and delivered to them greetings and New Year congratulations of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. Santa Claus and Snow Maiden presented various toys and books to children. Baskets with gifts contained sweets, fresh and dry fruits, tea and jam. The Centre was presented a refrigerator, TV set, household appliances etc.
Children being brought up in a number of children homes of Moscow too received with pleasure presents from the Russian Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Santa Claus and Snow Maiden distributed presents brought by the employees of the Office among children. Residents of Moscow’s children home No. 43 watched with great interest the show “Winter fairy tale” performed by the State Academic Central Puppet Theatre named after S.Obraztsov.
