Leyla Aliyeva attends the ceremony of releasing young sturgeons bred in the Khylly Sturgeon Factory in Neftchala into the Caspian Sea

On June 17, a ceremony of releasing young sturgeons bred in the Khylly Sturgeon Breeding Factory in Neftchala - in the framework of the cooperation between IDEA Public Association and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aimed at improving the ecological environment of the Caspian Sea - into water took place.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva, minister of ecology and natural resources Mukhtar Babayev and Goodwill Ambassador of the UN’s Environment Programme, legendary hockey player Vyacheslav Fetisov attended the event.

The Khylly Sturgeon Breeding Factory of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources was put into operation in 2003. This factory is the largest sturgeon breeding enterprise in the Caspian region. Such species as bolge, sturgeon, kalamo and long-nosed are bred here and released into the outfall of Kur River. The factory’s production capacity is about 15 million young sturgeons a year. With total area of 15 hectares, the factory has 4 puddles and 54 concrete pools.

After the familiarization with the factory, the ceremony of releasing young sturgeons bred in the Khylly Sturgeon Breeding Factory into water took place.
