On July 8th, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva paid visits to Clinical Child Hospital No.2 named after Garayev, the Topchubashov Scientific Surgery Centre, the Research Haematology and Transfusion Institute named after Eyvazov, and the Thalassemia Centre in the capital, and met children being treated there.
First, Leyla Aliyeva arrived at Clinical Child Hospital No.2 named after Garayev. It was informed that 135 children are being treated here at the moment. Leyla Aliyeva took interest in the treatment of children, met children being treated in various sections of the hospital, and talked with their parents. Thereafter, Leyla Aliyeva visited the Thalassemia Centre. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been doing very significant works associated with the issue of thalassemia, implementing necessary programmes aiming at training professionals in this field. Created with the support of the Foundation, the Thalassemia Centre has become a place of healing for those suffering from this disease. The primary objective of establishing this centre was to organize a qualified medical institution and a blood bank, training of highly qualified personnel, and provision of children suffering from thalassemia with safe and quality blood components, as well as with appropriate medical service.
