President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin presents the “Pushkin” Medal to Leyla Aliyeva
On August 20, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva visited, in the framework of the Foundation’s projects, the Thalassemia Centre, City Clinical Hospital No.1 and the Child Clinic of the National Oncological Centre, and met with children being treated there, and their parents.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has implemented a number of projects in healthcare and social spheres. Among these projects may be cited the projects “For life without thalassemia”, projects aimed at supporting children with heart failure, those in need of special care, and other socially and healthcare-oriented programmes.
With a view to becoming acquainted with the works carried out in the framework of the project “For life without thalassemia”, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva undertook another visit to the Thalassemia Centre in the capital. Established following the Foundation’s initiative, the Thalassemia Centre’s primary objective is organization of a specialised medical institution and blood bank, training highly qualified personnel, and providing children suffering from thalassemia with safe and quality blood components.
Thereafter, Leyla Aliyeva visited children being treated in various departments of the City Clinical Hospital No.1, and wished them quick recovery. It was mentioned that some 40 children are being treated in the child-surgery building of the hospital at the moment.
Next meeting with children being treated at medical institutions took place at the Child Clinic of the National Oncological Centre. Taking interest in the process of children’s treatment, Leyla Aliyeva said issues in the healthcare and social spheres have always been a focus of her attention.
