President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin presents the “Pushkin” Medal to Leyla Aliyeva
On October 30, a statue erected to great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadeddin Nasimi was inaugurated in the atrium of the All-Russian State Foreign Literature Library named after M.I.Rudomino in Moscow, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Deputy Culture Minister of Russia Pavel Stepanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu, General Director of the All-Russian State Foreign Literature Library named after M.I.Rudomino Mikhail Shepel addressed the statue’s inauguration ceremony, in the framework of the series of events held on the occasion of Nasimi’s 650th jubilee.
Azerbaijani students of the B.Shyukin Theatre Institute read poems by Imadeddin Nasimi.
Author of the statue is academician of the Russian Art Academy, sculptor Aydin Zeynalov.
The atrium of the All-Russian State Foreign Literature Library named after M.I.Rudomino was created in 1994. Currently, there are over 30 statues of world-renowned poets, writers and thinkers. In 2012, a statue of Azerbaijan’s writer and philosopher Mirza Fatali Akhundov was erected in the atrium, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

On the same day, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva met with members of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR) in the Botanical Garden of the Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov. A painting exhibition called “Nar” (pomegranate) was arranged in the framework of the meeting, and two pomegranate saplings were presented to the Botanical Garden.
The event continued with a concert programme.
