An international gala event called “The Unconquerable” took place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the International Paralympic Committee in the Young Spectators Theatre, November 13.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, representatives of the International Paralympic Committee, as well as representatives of the country’s sports community attended the event.
Life stories of physically impaired people were presented at the event, held with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijan Paralympic Committee, and distinguished by its unique nature, through a shadow theatre, ultraviolet show, and pantomime shows.
Participants first viewed a stand comprised of photos about the achievements of Azerbaijan’s Paralympic athletes, by photo-correspondent Ilgar Jafarov of the Azerbaijan State Information Agency (AzerTAC).
The logo of “The Unconquerable” was presented at the event. Seeming at the first sight simple, the logo embodies the Paralympic spirit. The torch rising at the centre of the logo embodies ability and spirit of victory. Tongues of the flame have been painted with the colours of the Azerbaijani flag. Down the logo is the symbol of the International Paralympic Committee, “A Moving Spirit”. The symbol of life, shaped in the form of a heart, embodying success and dynamic life, has also been placed in the logo.
Despite their physical restrictions, persons who have reached achievements shared their life stories with the spectators.
At the event, Mahmud Safarov, who drew first “vine” with “jestika” in Azerbaijan, presented the show “Mahmud’s World”. His speech was dedicated to successful people, despite their physical restrictions.
BP’s public relations manager on Azerbaijan Tamam Bayatly emphasized that great importance has been attached by the company to corporate social responsibility in the countries they have been operating, underscoring that BP Azerbaijan was a partner of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee, and the National Paralympic Committee.
Speaking at the event, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan National Paralympic Committee Kamal Mammadov said: “Happiness has nothing to do with arms and legs. What is important is that the love for life does not end, because love is the notion binding people to life, and making them gain success.”
At the end of the event, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and other attendees decorated a board with the logo of “The Unconquerable” with special colourful gilts.
