On December 22nd, a solo exhibition entitled “Gratitude” by Brazilian artist Nina Pandolfo, who works in the street style of fine arts, took place at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the exhibition’s inauguration.

Speaking at the event, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Centre Anar Alakbarov brought to the attention of the audience that it was of much importance to organize such an exhibition at the Centre, which had been in great demand for a long period during the pandemic. Having been in Baku for several days, Nina Pandolfo has personally participated in the installation of the exhibition. Ambassador of Brazil to Azerbaijan Manuel Adalberto Carlos Montenegro Lopes da Cruz, director of the Jean-David Malat Gallery Jean-David Malat have invested a great deal of labour in organization of the exhibition.

Anar Alakbarov thanked Leyla Aliyeva, the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, underscoring that she had played a special role in all these relations, as well as in the organization of such events.

Brazilian artist Nina Pandolfo talked about the concept of the exhibition.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, ambassador of Brazil to Azerbaijan Manuel Adalberto Carlos Montenegro Lopes da Cruz thanked First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for this brilliant initiative, and Vice-president of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva for inviting Nina Pandolfo to Azerbaijan.

Then, familiarization with the exhibition took place.

Artworks by the author, embodying a multicultural world, devoted to women differing in terms of ethnicity, are displayed at the exhibition. Visitors can also become familiar with graffiti installations of Nina Pandolfo.

Brazilian artist Nina Pandolfo shared her impressions associated with her works with correspondents.

The exhibition “Gratitude” will continue to run until June 19, 2022.

Nina Pandolfo was born in 1977 in Brazil. Studying visual communication at the State Technical School named after Carlos de Campos, Nina Pandolfo started to decorate streets of São Paulo by a new style of art, becoming in a short span of time an integral representative of the Brazilian graffiti art of 1990s, and played a matchless role in making sure that the graffiti art finds a way into museums and galleries.

Pandolfo has participated in exhibitions held not only in Brazil, but also in a lot of other places over the world, including different art galleries of a number of European countries and the United States of America.

In 2007, Pandolfo started to cooperate with well-known street artists of Brazil to decorate the façade and tower of the historical 800-year-old Kelburn castle of Scotland. The project was so successful that it was entered on the list of “Top 10 Street Art Examples” in 2011.
