Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
Central Council of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis has held a meeting in Moscow. The event was attended by vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, head of the Foundation`s Russian representation Leyla Aliyeva.
The event was preceded by a meeting of members of the Presidium of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis – Azeri ambassador in Moscow Polad Bulbuloglu, vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Azeri Consul General in Saint Petersburg Gudsi Osmanov, first deputy director general of ITAR-TASS Mikhail Gusman as well as representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
Opening the meeting of Central Council of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis, chairman of the Congress Mammad Aliyev threw light on the issue of the registration of the Congress by Russia`s Ministry of Justice. A representative of the Ministry read out a document which proved that the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis had been registered by Russia`s Ministry of Justice.
Aliyev said it was proposed that Azeri Consul General in Saint Petersburg Gudsi Osmanov became Executive Director of the administration of the Congress. Osmanov said it was great honor for him to work with the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia. He said he would respond to the proposal after considering it.
Head of the Executive Administration of the Congress Nemat Nagdaliyev highlighted what the Congress had done since its last conference in 2011. He said the Congress was playing a key role in the social life of Russia, adding it maintained good relationships with Russian government agencies and private sector organizations.
Nagdaliyev praised national leader Heydar Aliyev`s role in founding the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis.
Heads of regional offices of the Congress made reports on their activities.
The participants then discussed a 2013 plan of action. They said events to mark the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev would be among priority issues.
The Congress founded the Heydar Aliyev Award last year which will be given to Russian public figures who played a role in developing the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.
