The "Home sweet home" exhibition of "Yarat!" Contemporary Art Space was held in Paris

As continuation of projects being implemented in connection with Azerbaijani art, “Yarat!” Contemporary Art Space   organized, April 18, jointly with its permanent partner Heydar Aliyev Foundation, an exhibition on the theme of “Home sweet home” devoted to the contemporary Azerbaijani art at the Centre of Azerbaijani Culture located in the centre of Paris.

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Foundation’s Vice-president Leyla Aliyeva attended the exhibition.

The objective of opening the exhibition in France is to closely acquaint citizens of this country with rich art samples of Azerbaijan and its national values, and give them a comprehensive idea of our country.

90 works by 25 artists are displayed at the exhibition. Visitors acquainted themselves with contemporary and miniature works by Leyla Aliyeva, Aida Mahmudova, Museib Amirov, Vugar Muradov, Sitara Ibrahimova, Altay Sadygzadeh, Fakhriyya Mammadova, Fidan Seyidova, Farid Rasulov and others. Works by  Leyla Aliyeva “Brain”, Aida Mahmudova “Recycle”, Altay Sadygzadeh “On top of a stairway”, Farid Rasulov “Anonym” aroused special interest in visitors.

Opening the event, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov informed that the objective of organizing the exhibition was to acquaint the French with the culture and rich values of Azerbaijan, a country located at the crosspoint of various cultures and civilizations. He noted that the exhibition is demonstrated for the first time at the centre of culture with participation of Azerbaijan’s First Lady. The Ambassador emphasized Mehriban Aliyeva’s exclusive role in promotion of Azerbaijani culture in foreign countries, including France.

Mentioning the Days of Azerbaijan held in ten cities of the country’s different regions within the framework of the project “Cultural Treasures of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of Caucasus” with organization support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which implements various projects in the cultural field,  the Ambassador noted that numerous works by various artists were displayed at this exhibition organized at the centre by “Yarat!” Contemporary Art Space founded by young artist Aida Mahmudova, and that this would serve the dialogue among cultures. The diplomat informed that the primary objective of the exhibition was to seek establishment of close relations between Azerbaijani and foreign artists.

Founder of “Yarat!“ Contemporary Art Space Aida Mahmudova talked of the “Home sweet home” exhibition organized in association with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and noted that the objective of the exhibition was to deliver young artists’ works to the world, and a number of such exhibitions were already organized in Russia, Italy and United Arab Emirates.

Underlining this was the first time that an exhibition with Azerbaijani artists’ works was demonstrated in Paris, A.Mahmudova noted that “Yarat!” Contemporary Art Space has been cooperating with other organizations, and such events would be continued in the future too.

Emphasizing the support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the organization of the event, A.Mahmudova thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. She expressed confidence that the exhibition would contribute to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and France.

Having attended the inauguration of the exhibition, Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with the exhibition.

French state and government officials, senators and deputies, representatives of the general public, employees of the diplomatic corps accredited in Paris, representatives of our Diaspora and local and foreign mass media attended the event.
