Leyla Aliyeva is honoured with a high order of the Russian Orthodox Church

By a resolution of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Cyril, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, head of the Foundation’s Russian Representative Office Leyla Aliyeva has been honoured with the 3rd Grade Order of Princes Olga, Equal-to-the-Apostles.

Leyla Aliyeva has been decorated with this order for her support to the erection of a monument to Grand Prince St. Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, in the city of Astrakhan, and on the occasion of the 1025thanniversary of Russia’s taking on the Christian faith, as well as numerous merits in strengthening the friendly relations between Russia and  Azerbaijan.

The Order of Princes Olga, Equal-to-the-Apostles, has been instituted in 1988 on the occasion of celebrating the 1000thanniversary of Russia’s christening. Women are decorated with this order for their merits before the Church and state, as well as in public spheres.

Among those previously decorated with this order are also Chairperson of the Russian Federal Assembly’s Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko, former president of Latvia Vayra Vike-Freyberga and Grand Prince Maria Vladimirovna.
