Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
Ceremony of presentation of the launch issue of the English edition of “Baku” magazine, Chief Editor of which is Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, took place at the Museum of Modern Art, November 17.
The ceremony was attended by First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, state and government officials, MPs, ambassadors of foreign countries and figures of art.
Opening the event, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Leyla Aliyeva noted that the magazine has been published in Russian for the past four years. The launch issue of the magazine in Russian was presented in Moscow in December 2007. “Baku” magazine has risen to prominence over a short span of time. The magazine publishes interesting stories on the history, culture, past and present of Azerbaijan.
“The aim of the English edition of the magazine is to popularize Azerbaijan in a wider geography.” she said.
L.Aliyeva expressed gratitude to the editorial board of the English edition.
Darius Sanai, the Senior Editor of Condé Nast, the publisher of the magazine, said the English edition popularizes Azerbaijan’s tangible and intangible riches across the globe. Mentioning Leyla Aliyeva’s valuable and innovative ideas in the development of the magazine, he noted the English edition contains interesting materials on Azerbaijan’s rich art and culture.
The participants saw a video on Azerbaijan prepared by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The exhibition of photographs included in the magazine’s English edition was organized as part of the presentation.
The magazine will be presented in Paris, Rome, Berlin and New York as well. The presentation has already been held in London and Moscow.
