Leyla Aliyeva is decorated with “For Services to the Volgograd Region” Medal

The Azerbaijani side is willing to do everything possible to develop and strengthen the friendly ties with Russia. These are the words of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR) Leyla Aliyeva, said at a meeting with Governor of the Volgograd Region Sergey Bojenov.

According to her, the Russian culture is highly valued in Azerbaijan: “A common history links Azerbaijan with Russia. Financing by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation of the reconstruction works in the Volgograd-Baku Friendship Park is just the first step forward, and we’ll see many interesting projects in future.”

Leyla Aliyeva talked about her intention to open a regional division of AYOR in Volgograd, and start exchange of experience.

Sergey Bojenov said over 80 thousand Azerbaijanis live in Volgograd Region. He emphasized the significance of exchanging experiences between public and youth organizations, along with economic partnership and cultural exchange. The Governor informed about his intention to visit Baku next year.

Bojenov thinks, in the near future, Azerbaijan may become a significant hub for carrying out flights to other countries. He emphasized the significance of opening a flight between Volgograd and Baku.

At the end of the meeting, a ceremony of decorating Leyla Aliyeva with «For Services to the Volgograd Region” Medal took place. The Governor said Leyla Aliyeva is the first foreign representative to have been honoured with this medal for an active public work.

At the ceremony was also signed a Letter of Intention between the Garadagh District of Baku and Volgograd Region. Head of the Garadagh District Executive Authority Suleyman Mikailov said the parties are willing to build a strong partnership relations in a number of areas, including economy, culture and sports.
