An art exhibition opens in Moscow with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

An exhibition of Orkhan Huseynov, a young artist of Azerbaijan, the son of People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Arif Huseynov, opens in the Russian State Oriental Museum.

Painting and graphic works by the artist are displayed at the exhibition opened with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, ministries of culture of Azerbaijan and Russia, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia and the Azerbaijan Artists Union. Azerbaijani people’s life, its rites and traditions have been brightly shown in the light of Azerbaijani fairy tales, with humour and fantasy.

Taking the floor, General Director of the Oriental Museum Alexander Sedov said at the opening ceremony: “What I’ve seen in Azerbaijani artists’ works remind me characters in Russian fairy tales. In my opinion, this shows that both peoples’ art and culture have benefited from common cultural values”. A.Sedov thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for supporting the project.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu drew attention to the fact that, along with People’s Artist Arif Huseynov, also works by his son Orkhan Huseynov were displayed: “Despite being young, Orkhan Huseynov also may be called a professional artist. I have been keeping up with Orkhan’s creative activity, and I would like to congratulate him on the opening of his exhibition in one of the most famous museums of the world.”

Honoured Artist of Russia Asger Mammadov, curator of the project Svetlana Khromchenko delivered a speech at the inauguration of the exhibition.

Arif Huseynov recalled that his works were last time displayed 20 years ago in Moscow.

The exhibition will continue until November 10.
