Opening of Heydar Juma Mosque took place after reconstruction at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Mardakan settlement, Khazar district, December 31.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the inauguration.

Leyla Aliyeva viewed a photo-stand reflecting the mosque’s previous and present conditions.

No repair works had been carried out at the mosque, which has been functioning since 1893. Reconstruction works started in February last year.

Leyla Aliyeva acquainted herself with the conditions created at the mosque.

All necessary conditions have been created at the mosque to ensure that 130 people can pray here at a time. Previously being one-storied, the mosque has been added a second floor. A ceremony room has been created here for 180 persons, and a minaret built. The mosque consists of two ablution rooms, library, various auxiliary rooms and madrasah.

The ahong of the mosque presented a Kuran-i Kerim to Leyla Aliyeva.
