Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
The Heydar Aliyev Center has implemented a number of projects in connection with the Novruz Bayram.
On May 18, the day of “ilakhyr chershembe” (last Wednesday of the outgoing year), an international art competition called “Samani” was organized in the Heydar Aliyev Center’s park. Samanis (malts) made in different designs were displayed in the Center’s park.
The competition was realised with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, “YARAT!” Contemporary Art Space, IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Association, “Baku” magazine, the Museum of Modern Art and other organizations.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, and Arzu Aliyeva viewed the works presented to the competition.
The “Samani” International Art Competition aimed at eternalizing our national traditions and values, conveying them to the new generation and, at the same time, more widely promoting Novruz through the language of contemporary art.
Samanis (malts) presented within the competition by 32 artists and sculptors related to different age groups and creative trends in different designs were demonstrated, and winners were chosen among them by vote. According to the results of the vote, Novruz Mammadov, Elvin Nabizadeh and Lamiya Ahmad took the first, second and third place, accordingly.
Samanis presented to the competition will be demonstrated in the Heydar Aliyev Center’s park until June 1st.
