On the 5th of April the “Leaf Of Paper For A Tree-Leaf” Project came to a close. The project was set up with the joint administrative support of IDEA (International Dialogue For Environmental Action), of which Mrs Leyla Aliyeva is the Vice-President; "ASAN service"; and Joint-Stock Company 'Tamiz Şəhər'.
During the project, which kicked off on 3rd February, outlets of "ASAN service" located in Baku took part in a promotion for collecting recycled paper and paper-related products. Each 50 kilograms of waste paper was rated as one tree. In total, seventy-eight thousand, eight hundred and ten kilograms of recyclable paper materials were collected in during the three months of the project – and in turn, one thousand, five hundred and seventy-six tree saplings were planted.
The grand finale of the project took place on 5th April, with the participation of members of the government - including the Ministry of the Economy & Industry, which threw itself behind the project, alongside countless private individuals and companies – there was a ceremonial tree-planting, held at the Balakhani Landfill Waste Reprocessing.
As a result of the project, five thousand square metres of land at the Balakhani Landfill site were turned over to creating a green park zone.
