We've been setting this exhibition up for nearly two years. I believe that its language – the language of Art – eloquently conveys the great accomplishments our country has made in all spheres of achievement.
On April 9, a private exhibition of famous British sculptor Tony Cragg opened at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva acquainted themselves with the exhibition.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov talked about the projects implemented by the Center, and emphasized the significance of holding events associated with contemporary art. He underscored that the activity of the Museum of Modern Art, projects implemented by “Fly to Baku” exhibition and “YARAT!” Contemporary Art Space played a significant part in popularization of contemporary art.
Anar Alakbarov thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for the support provided to projects being implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Addressing the ceremony, Tony Cragg thanked everyone who had contributed to the organization of the exhibition. T. Cragg personally thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for the invitation to the exhibition.
Then the exhibition was declared open.
28 works of the author are displayed at the exposition, which will continue until August 28th.
Over 350 private exhibitions of Tony Cragg were organized in various countries. In 1988, he was awarded the famous Turner Prize, and in 2007, Imperial Prize of Japan.
