President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin presents the “Pushkin” Medal to Leyla Aliyeva
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and family members acquainted themselves with the progress of works at the Aquatic Sports Palace being constructed in Baku, April 17.
With total area of 66 thousand square metres, the Aquatic Sports Palace fully complies with the requirements of the International Swimming Federation. The Palace will accommodate three swimming pools. 50 metres long, 25 metres wide, the first pool is designed for competitions. And the second pool is intended for trainings. The pool designed for diving is 25 metres long, 20 metres wide. Moreover, fitness rooms, a restaurant, a conference room, offices and other working and secondary rooms will function at the Palace.
Auxiliary buildings and facilities, and an overground parking lot for 500 cars will be created on the territory of the Palace. 6 thousand onlookers can watch at a time sports competitions to be held at the Palace. All conditions will be created here for sportsmen’s training, as well as organization of competitions of republican and international levels.
The Head of State and his spouse were informed of the construction works to be carried out based on the design of the European Games Park.
The European Games Park will consist of three sport facilities – water polo, beach volleyball and football, and basketball competitions facilities. Provision has been made here also for meeting and conference rooms, café and functional rooms. The park will also have an area for press and broadcasting shootings, parking lot and other service areas.
Having closely acquainted himself with the works done, President Ilham Aliyev gave relevant instructions.
