On May 6, a private exhibition of French artist and sculptor Laurence Jenkell opened at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, and Arzu Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the exhibition.
Addressing the inauguration, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov said presentations of two projects took place at the Center at that time.
Talking about Laurence Jenkell’s exhibition, Anar Alakbarov noted that the exhibition, which will remain open for visitors for a few months, will be very interesting. According to him, along with this exhibition, presentation of the Maiden Tower 5th International Art Festival, a joint project by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Icherisheher State History and Architecture Reserve Department, was held here. Having become already a tradition, this year the festival brought together 28 artists from 26 countries. Special presentations will be held within the framework of the festival, and closure ceremony of the festival will be held on May 9th.
Laurence Jenkell talked about the works being displayed at the exhibition. According to him, the candies-sculptures displayed are samples of art that drive all sense organs.
Then participants of the ceremony got acquainted with the exhibition. They first viewed the works being demonstrated at the Maiden Tower Festival, then the works by Laurence Jenkell.
At the exhibition with a total of 27 works, flags of various countries, including Azerbaijan, are presented in the form of a candy.
Visitors were given a chance to see the flags of Germany, USA, Argentina, the Great Britain, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Turkey, Switzerland, France, Hungary, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the Korean Republic, India, Italy, Japan, Ukraine, Poland, Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, the South African Republic, China and the European Union in a different form.
Laurence Jenkell’s works have so far been demonstrated in over 25 countries of the world.
The exhibition will run until October 31st.
