Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva met Director of United Nations Environment Programme’s Regional Office for Europe Jan Dusik in Geneva, December 3.
At the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva talked about the projects implemented by IDEA Public Association towards protecting the environment in Azerbaijan and in the region at large.
Underscoring similarity between IDEA’s activities and the mission of UNEP in a number of areas, Leyla Aliyeva suggested implementing joint projects aiming to remove existing challenges facing the environment with participation of these two organizations. Leyla Aliyeva also expressed her intention to continue the “Series of green week conferences” successfully held in 2012 in Azerbaijan with the joint organizational support of IDEA and UNEP, and other similar events.
Jan Dusik said that they were very well acquainted with the activities of IDEA and that projects implemented by IDEA are closely watched by them. He said UNEP was ready to provide steady assistance to IDEA in solving environmental problems and cooperate in this sphere.
The parties held discussions on signing a Memorandum of Understanding to raise the cooperation between IDEA and UNEP to a higher level, and implementing joint pilot projects in Azerbaijan in the field of “Green Policy”.
