We've been setting this exhibition up for nearly two years. I believe that its language – the language of Art – eloquently conveys the great accomplishments our country has made in all spheres of achievement.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of the First European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva made themselves acquainted with the conditions created at Baku Crystal Hall where competitions on a number of sport types will be held during the First European Games.
Competitions on volleyball, boxing, fencing, taekwondo and karate will be held at Baku Crystal Hall during the First European Games.
A volleyball pitch here with four thousand onlooker’s seats has been provided with up-to-date equipment meeting world standards. Both men and women’s teams will compete during the Games on the pitch.
A stand with 2600 onlooker’s seats has been built at the boxing pitch of Baku Crystal Hall. Necessary works have been done here to ensure comfort for sportsmen, trainers and onlookers.
A media centre has been created in the hall. Rooms provided for commentators during the Eurovision Song Contest have been extended and turned into a special recreation zone for the European Games Family. Intellectual control system of the building has been completely renewed during the works.
Created to hold competitions on fencing, taekwondo and karate sport types during the First European Games, the hall has all conditions for sportsmen’s comfort. Onlooker’s capacity during the taekwondo and karate competitions here will be 1500, and during fencing competitions - 1100. A 72-metre-long ground meeting international standards will be created for the fencing competitions.
All halls created for the competitions to be held in Baku Crystal Hall during the First European Games meet the International Olympic Games’ standards.
Extensive improvement works have been performed around Baku Crystal Hall. Asphalt cover in an area of 6 thousand square metres has been renewed, and new asphalt was laid in 3 thousand 500 square metres. Canteens have been created here for the European Games Family, sportsmen, technical workers, and VIP guests. Moreover, accreditation, logistics and security zones, rooms for employees of Baku-2015 First European Games Operations Committee and other relevant facilities have been created here.
