We've been setting this exhibition up for nearly two years. I believe that its language – the language of Art – eloquently conveys the great accomplishments our country has made in all spheres of achievement.
On June 18, taekwondo competitions took place within the framework of the 1st European Games. Our two sportsmen won medals - Milad Beigi gold, and Farida Azizova silver, whereby the number of gold medals won by Azerbaijan at the 1st European Games became 12.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of the 1st European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva, and family members watched the competitions held at the Baku Crystal Hall.
Representing Azerbaijan in the 80-kg weight category among men, Milad Beigi Harchegani won a gold medal, having defeated his rival from Russia Albert Guan with the score 9:4 in the Finals.
Then a ceremony of awarding took place.
President Ilham Aliyev presented medals to sportsmen-winners.
World champion in the 67-kg weight category among women Farida Azizova could not defeat Russian sportsman Anastasia Baryshnikova and had to be content with a silver medal.
