President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva watch sambo competitions within the framework of the 1st European Games
On June 22, sportsmen competed for 8 sets of medals at the sambo competitions being held at the Heydar Aliyev Sports Palace. Both men and women tested their strength in 4 weight categories. Azerbaijan has joined these competitions with 8 sambo professionals. Our sambo professionals performed successfully. Azerbaijani sportsmen Nazakat Khalilova, Islam Gasymov, Amil Gasymov and Vasif Safarbeyov won silver medals.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of Baku-2015 1st European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva and family members watched the competitions.
At the end, the winners were presented awards.
