Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe in Baku comes to an end

On June 19, Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europestarted in Baku, at 17:00.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members watched the opening ceremony of the Formula 1 Grand-Prix of Europe, and the finals of the race. 

After the opening ceremony was over, the head of the Azerbaijani state and the first lady acquainted themselves with the conditions created at the race control centre.

The state anthem of Azerbaijan was performed by a collective of the State Child Philharmonic of Azerbaijan comprised of 40 people. 

Then the finals of the Formula 1 Grand-Prix of Europe started. 22 pilots joined the race to win the first place. The race came to an end with the victory of Nico Rosberg, a German pilot of Mercedes. Ferrari’s pilot Sebastian Vettel won the second place, and Sergio Perez of Force India took the third place.

The Azerbaijani President presented the winner’s cup to Nico Rosberg.

Mehriban Aliyeva presented the engineers cup to a representative of the Mercedes team.

The cup for the second place was presented to Sebastian Vettel by minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov, and president of the Automobile Federation of Azerbaijan Anar Alakbarov presented the cup for the third place to Sergio Perez.
