Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
On July 3, a Day of Azerbaijan was organized, following the initiative of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, in the “Ramadan Tent” built near a mosque at Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow, and Iftar meal was given.
Organized with the support of Russia’s Council of Muftis, the event was attended by representatives of public organizations, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in this country, the Russian Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis, the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia and Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations, as well as religious persons from various nationalities, all together, over 800 people.
First, representative of the Ikhlas Foundation Anas Mammadov talked about the essence of the holy month, the benefit of fasting, and told verses devoted to Ramadan Holiday. Singer Samir Salam performed religious and popular songs. Then ayahs from Qur’an and Iftar prayer were read. Our fellow-citizens tasted national dishes and sweets laid on an Iftar table.
An appreciation letter on behalf of the Moscow Muslims Clergymen Department to Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva was read, thanking her for the organization of the Azerbaijani Evening within the framework of the cultural and charitable event “Ramadan Tent”. It is stated in the letter that participation in the cultural and charitable project of the Moscow Muslims serves to consolidation of people, their becoming closer, mutual cultural integration, as well as reviving traditional spiritual values.
Representative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia Akshin Aliyev, delivering a speech, welcomed the participants of the event on behalf of Ambassador Polad Bulbuloghlu, and talked about what significance is given in Azerbaijan to holy Ramadan month.
Deputy of the Moscow’ mufti for cultural and enlightening programmes Rashid Akkaziyev thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and, personally, Leyla Aliyeva for the organization of the event. R. Akkaziyev emphasized that each day of the holy Ramadan month has its own special meaning.
A video footage about Azerbaijan was demonstrated at the event. Samples from “Baku”, “AYOR” and “Irs” magazines, as well as multimedia disks and cards with beautiful places of our country were distributed at the event.
For already 11 years, the Russian Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been participating in the project “Ramadan Tent” of the Russian Muftis Council and arranging Iftar meal for religious people.
