A presentation of the committee for the preservation of an historic cemetery and space named “Har HaZeitim” took place at the British Parliament’s House of Commons.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the presentation ceremony of this entity, founded within the International Committee for the Preservation of “Har HaZeitim”, considered to be the oldest Jewish cemetery in East Jerusalem.
The event was also attended by ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Great Britain Tahir Taghyzadeh, MP Matthew Offord, first deputy mayor of the city of Jerusalem Rabbi Josef Deutsch, spouse of the member of the Yugoslavian royal family, heir to the throne princess Catherine, heads of Jewish committee, and representatives of non-governmental organizations and entities operating in the field of religious tolerance.
Achievements reached by Azerbaijan in the field of religious tolerance has been highly appreciated, and the care and attention shown in our country towards the Jewish community has been emphasized in particular.
