On October 28, an exhibition by renowned Mexican artist and sculptor Jorge Marin, entitled "The Reconstruction of the Being", to be for the fist time demonstrated in the Eastern European region, opened at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the exhibition.
Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov, addressing the opening ceremony, brought to attention that one of the regular projects of the Center supporting the development of our art is now presented.
He underscored that employees of both the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center have worked together, for a long time, to organize this exhibition by Jorge Marin.
Expressing his profound gratitude to Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, who has contributed to the realization of this exhibition, Anar Alakbarov said: “The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been doing significant works and implementing projects both in Azerbaijan and in different regions of the world to promote our art and culture. Exhibition of works by artists of the 60th and 80th of the past century at the Venice Biennale testifies to Azerbaijan’s wide-scale contribution to art. Now negotiations are underway to arrange an exhibition of these works in Italy and USA, and these exhibitions are expected to open in the near future. Works by our artists will be presented at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, starting from November 15, supported by Mehriban Aliyeva. All these projects are significant contribution to the promotion of Azerbaijan’s culture and art”.
It was mentioned that works by the Mexican sculptor that conform to the internal design of the Center will please visitors’ eyes.
Anar Alakbarov thanked everyone who has made contribution to the organization of the exhibition.
Mexico’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Juan Rodrigo Labardini Flores greeted visitors in Azerbaijani.
The diplomat said world-renowned Jorge Marin is one of the most eminent figures of Mexico’s modern fine arts. His works have been displayed in main capital cities of America, Europe and Asia. We are very glad today to participate in the opening of an exhibition with the artist’s works in Azerbaijan, at the magnificent Heydar Aliyev Center. The works displayed here once more shows the extent of Jorge Marin’s works.
Naming the exhibition an obvious example of the friendship between our peoples, the ambassador said such projects will give impetus to widening of the cultural relations between Mexico and Azerbaijan.
Saying he took pride in the opening of the exhibition in Baku, Jorge Marin expressed his gratitude first to Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, as well as those who have contributed to the organization of the exhibition.
Entitled “The Reconstruction of the Being”, the exhibition consists of three distinguished sections: “Human in Society”, “Human in Cosmos” and “Human as a Substance”. The name of the exhibition reflects the artist’s personal development and reassembling “himself”, after being torn apart, as a result of live intercourse of the visitors with bronze sculptures of Jorge Marin at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Aged 53, Jorge Marin has been engaged in creativity for already 25 years. After long-lasting quest, he gave preference to bronze among the means of self-expression and, thus, this material has become a typical element of his creativity. Jorge Marin has created works of different sizes, from small figures to monumental sculptures. His works were demonstrated both in Mexico and in other countries, in different public places.
Jorge Marin has participated in over 250 private and joint exhibitions. His works have been displayed at museums and galleries of France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Romania, Costa-Rica, Panama, Salvador, Guatemala, Canada, USA, Great Britain, Russia, Denmark, Latvia, Serbia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Indonesia.
