Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
On November 10, opening of private exhibitions by renowned Azerbaijani artist Faig Ahmad, entitled “That is how it is”, and famous Colombian artist Oscar Murillo, named “DIS PLACE”, took place at “YARAT” Contemporary Art Centre.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the exhibitions.
Head of “YARAT” Contemporary Art Centre Aida Mahmudova talked about the significance of both the exhibitions and congratulated the artists.
First, the guests made themselves familiarized with the exhibition of Faig Ahmad.
6 new monumental works of art depicting gender relations and social structures in the traditional Azerbaijani society are demonstrated at the exhibition. The name of the exhibition stems from an old Azerbaijani saying, which implies the sense of tolerance and accepting everything as “That is how it is”, an old way of approaching things, which had persisted for long years.
And at the second exhibition, works by Colombian artist Oscar Murillo in the form of fabric, painting, sculpture and video are shown. Majority of these works have been created as a result of the artist’s casual meetings with individuals and communities in Azerbaijan.
Both the exhibitions were shown much interest by the visitors.
The exhibitions will continue until January 29, 2017.
