On December 28, marionette show of composer genius Uzeir Hajibeyli’s “Leyli and Majnun” mugham opera took place at the Marionette Theatre.

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, Vice-president of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva saw the show.

It took three years to prepare the 14-act marionette show of “Leyli and Majnun” mugham opera. Next project of the theatre will be a marionette show of “If not that one, then this one” opera.

Marionette theatre is a theatrical genre, which is quite interesting and popular in the world, yet the most difficult to produce, at the same time, most interesting and attractive. Due to being difficult to produce, most countries don’t have such a theatrical tradition. Existence of a marionette theatre in any country testifies to this people’s having a rich culture, and this theatrical genre play a matchless role in promoting the country. Loved by people of all age groups, this theatrical genre combines the most different spheres of our people’s rich and multilateral cultural heritage – architecture, national dressing, music, speech melodic of our language, our household and holidays, patterns and dances.
