Following the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia(AYOR), a tree-planting action took place, April 25, in the Botanical Garden of the Moscow State University (MSU) named after M.V.Lomonosov, to mark the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. AYOR activists participated in the action.
Medicinal plants and shrubs such as “Birgoz” (one-eyed) - a plant from the oleaceous family, as well as Japanese rose etc. were presented on behalf of Leyla Aliyeva to the Medicinal Plants Department established in the Botanical Garden of MSU. Widely spread in Azerbaijan, these plants are used in the folk medicine.
Medicinal shrubs and plants brought from a number of world countries are planted in the medicinal plants department, established in 2013 with the support of the Russian government, and a new landscape composition is created. Along with plants widely used in the folk medicine, rare plant and shrub species are encountered here too.
