Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva met UN’s resident coordinator in Azerbaijan, at the same time, resident representative of UN’s Development Programme and UN’s Population Fund Ghulam Ishagzai.
New possibilities of cooperation between IDEA and UN system’s entities, including the perspectives of joint activity in implementing UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and solving challenges facing the environment were discussed at the meeting.
Exchange of opinions was also held around the project being implemented with the UN’s Development Programme on improving management in coastline ecological systems contained in Azerbaijan’s specially protected natural territories.
The project aims at creating specially protected natural territories with a view to preserving Azerbaijan’s unique biological diversity - rarely encountered in the world - and efficient management thereof. As a result of the reconstruction and improvement works carried out at the Gyzylaghaj State Natural Reserve Complex in the framework of the said project, the first specially protected marine territory of the region will be created in Azerbaijan.
Agreement has been reached at the meeting also on continuing cooperation in the issues concerning the environment, sustainable development, and strengthening them further.
