A tree-planting action took place, February 26, in the framework of the “Justice for Khojaly” international awareness campaign, with organizational support from the IDEA Public Association and the State Committee for Family, Woman and Child Issues of the Republic of Azerbaijan, supported by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Sabunchu District Executive Authority.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, head and founder of the IDEA Public Association, initiator of the “Justice for Khojaly” international awareness campaign Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.

First, a wind instruments orchestra comprised of pupils of Boarding School No.2 performed the state anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Our fellow-citizens who have been killed during the Khojaly genocide were remembered by a minute’s silence.

Then, participants of the action delivered speeches on the subject of “Children and war” in various languages.

Thereafter, Leyla Aliyeva and participants of the action planted 63 cypress groves to immortalize the memories of 63 children killed during the Khojaly genocide.

Plates with full names of the children killed during the genocide were hung from the trees.

Aiming at commemorating the Khojaly genocide victims, immortalizing these events in memories and, in particular, making the young generation never forget them, the action was joined by some 120 participants of the Children’s 4th Republican Forum, including children of foreign nations studying and residing in our country.
