Solo exhibition of renowned photographer Reza Deghati opens at the Heydar Aliyev Centre

On April 12, a solo exhibition of renowned photographer Reza Deghati opened at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the opening of the solo exhibition called “Humanity. Invitation to Visual Journey”, displayed in the park of the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

Reza Deghati addressed the ceremony.

Then, familiarization with the exhibition took place. Some 60 photos of the author are demonstrated at the exhibition. Photos shot by Reza Deghati in different years in Azerbaijan, France, Egypt, Turkey, China, Afghanistan etc. are displayed here. These photos describe stories and feelings of people belonging to different cultures and destinies in various countries.

Works displayed in the park of the Heydar Aliyev Centre invite visitors to take a visual and artistic journey to humankind.

Reza Deghati, the author of the exhibition, started his career with research and architecture, and later, following his passion for photography, was successful in this area, earning international awards. Over the course of the past 40 years, Reza Deghati has been to over 100 countries. His works have been covered in an international press, in addition to being presented in books, exhibitions, and documentaries made for “National Geographic”. Exhibitions of Reza Deghati were arranged under the names “Thoughts of an immigrant” and “Intersecting destinies” in Paris, “One world one tribe” in Washington, “War+Peace” in Normandy, and “Hope” in Doha. The photographer has been, in general, a participant of 250 exhibitions worldwide.

Works by Reza Deghati, who made his first trip to Azerbaijan in 1987, have been presented in a series of projects implemented at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative. Reza Deghati’s exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan –Land of Tolerance” opened in 2013 at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The same exhibition was later demonstrated in Moscow, the UN headquarters in New York, and the European Parliament in Brussels. In 2014, Reza Deghati’s exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan – Elegance of Fire” took place in Paris.

Enjoying the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the books “Elegance of Fire” and “Carnage of the Innocent”, comprised of photos by Reza Deghati, were printed. A researcher of the National Geographic Society, Reza Deghati has been honoured with a number of awards, including the honorary title “Doctor Honoris Causa” of the American University in Paris, and the order of Cavalier of National Merit of France.

The exhibition will remain open until October 1st.
