On May 16, a literary and musical ceremony was held on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of national leader of the Azerbaijani people, eminent public and political figure of the contemporary era Heydar Aliyev in “the Writer’s Home” in Icherisheher.
Granddaughter of the National Leader, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.
A film called “Heydar Aliyev and Art”, dedicated to the rich and glorious life path of the National Leader, was shown at the ceremony. The film contained frames with meetings of the National Leader with cultural and art figures, and his delicate approach of the Azerbaijani music and literature.
Thereafter, a musical and literary programme was presented. Poems by Azerbaijani poets were read, composer and folk songs performed by talented students of the Republican Art Gymnasium and the Muslim Magomayev Music School.
At the ceremony were performed works “Love for Zarifa-Heydar’s joy” (Zalimkhan Yagub) by Leyla Bashirova, “Mother” (Sevil Aliyeva) and “Elegy” (Muslim Magomayev) by laureate of international contests Kenan Babazadeh, “Sevgili Janan” and “Sensiz” (Nizami Ganjavi) by Ayla Gafgazly, “Sene de galmaz” (Tofig Guliyev) by laureate of republican and international contests Sema Hamzayeva, “Kuchelere su sepmishem” (folk song) and “Leyla” (Rauf Hajiyev) by Fikret Aliyev, and “Stand Up Azerbaijan” (Mammad Araz) by Janali Janaliyev.
One of the interesting moments of the ceremony was that Leyla Aliyev told her poems she has dedicated to her grandfather.
The event ended by the song “Azerbaijan” (Muslim Magomayev), performed by Suleyman Mahmudov.
