Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
The “Day of Azerbaijan” was organized in “Ramadan Tent” at “Poklonnaya Gora”, Moscow, on behalf of Leyla Aliyeva, the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and an Iftar table was laid. The event was arranged by the Moscow Muslims Religious Department, with support from the Russian Muslims Religious Department and the Moscow Government.
Advisor to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia Vugar Imamaliyev addressed the event.
Before the Iftar, a representative of the Azerbaijani clergymen read ayahs from Qur’an and an Iftar prayer.
Then, Moscow Muslims opened their Iftar, tasting dishes and sweets of the Azerbaijani national cuisine.
The documentary “Under the single Sun”, dedicated to the theme of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan, was shown at the Iftar ceremony. National music pieces were performed by “Baku” ensemble and singer Samir Salam, and a quiz on how-to-better-know-Azerbaijan was conducted. Participants of the evening answered questions about Azerbaijan. Winners were presented keepsakes.
Having been arranged annually at “Poklonnaya Gora” following Leyla Aliyeva’s initiative, the “Ramadan Tent” is a significant project of the Russian Council of Muftis, and has been implemented with the objective of strengthening the friendship between peoples, and uniting representatives of many nations living in Moscow and having faith in Islam. The Russian Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation participates each year in this project under the leadership of Leyla Aliyeva, laying Iftar tables for believers.
