25/09/2014

Inauguration of the 3D Graffiti took place, September 25, in Dada Gorgud Park, with joint initiative of IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Association  and YARAT! Contemporary Art Space.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

Graffiti works made within the framework of the project aims at informing the public of environmental issues and draw peoples’ attention to this problem.

First overground graffiti work in Azerbaijan reflects animals included in “the Great Five of the Caucasus” and importance of their protection. With a view to protecting endangered animal species  living on the territory of Azerbaijan, the project “the Great Five of the Caucasus” was launched, in 2012, following Leyla Aliyeva’s initiative. The Five includes brown bear, emperor eagle, wolf, gazelle and Caucasian leopard.

One of the works being displayed in Dada Gorgud Park has been made by graffiti artists invited from England – Edward Sharon, James Titchner and Julian Fetin - in 3D format in 5 days. In addition to works by foreign guests, here are also handicrafts of  graffiti artists from Azerbaijan that reflect environmental issues of the Caspian Sea and the program “No Cutting Down of Trees” initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Association.

Overground 3D graffiti works will be displayed until October.
