On June 18, taekwondo competitions took place within the framework of the 1^st European Games. Our two sportsmen won medals - Milad Beigi gold, and Farida Azizova silver, whereby the number of gold medals won by Azerbaijan at the 1^st European Games became 12. 

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of the 1^st European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva, and family members watched the competitions held at the Baku Crystal Hall.

Representing Azerbaijan in the 80-kg weight category among men, Milad Beigi Harchegani won a gold medal, having defeated his rival from Russia Albert Guan with the score 9:4 in the Finals. 

Then a ceremony of awarding took place. 

President Ilham Aliyev presented medals to sportsmen-winners. 

World champion in the 67-kg weight category among women Farida Azizova could not defeat Russian sportsman Anastasia Baryshnikova and had to be content with a silver medal.
