Opening of the monument “Kharybulbul” takes place in the Turkish city of Bolu

In the framework of the international campaign “Justice For Khojaly!”, being held at the initiative of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, opening of the monument “Kharybulbul” took place in Garabagh Park in the Turkish city of Bolu. The monument has been erected following the initiatives of “New Home Social Development” and “International Eurasia Research Institute” public associations.

Held under the patronage of the Bolu Böyükşeher Municipality, the event was attended by governor-general of Bolu Region Aydın Baruş, head of the municipality Alaeddin Yılmaz, Khojaly resident Agil Mammadov, sculptor Akif Asgarov, professor of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science Asif Rustamli, deputy chairperson of “Khojaly Genocide Introduction” Public Association Dilbar Sultanova, head of a delegation led by Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Zivilja municipality Samir Eminoghlu, as well as representatives of the Turkish public.

First, anthems of Azerbaijan and Turkey were heard. Opening the event with an introductory speech, after recalling the memory of the Khojaly martyrs with a minute’s silence, deputy chairperson of Bolu Böyükşeher Municipality Emine Davarçıoğlu gave information about the monument being inaugurated, and the Khojaly tragedy.

Then, member of the National Assembly Ganira Pashayeva and chairperson of “New Home Social Development” Public Association Mahira Asadova talked about the causes and outcomes of the Khojaly genocide. During the speeches was noted that Kharybulbul is a symbol of the occupied Garabagh land. Azerbaijan could manage to keep so far pleasant recollections of this symbol alive in the historical memory of our people.
