President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin presents the “Pushkin” Medal to Leyla Aliyeva
On May 28, a gala concert took place in the Baku Crystal Hall to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members attended the concert.
The concept of this artistic and music evening, prepared with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has been built on the formation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on May 28, 1918, achievements reached by Azerbaijan over the course of the past 100 years, and Azerbaijan’s having its worthy place among the independent, strong and developed countries.
On this festive day, which is dear to every Azerbaijani, performances of the art people in the Baku Crystal Hall once more personified the power of the state, the bond formed between the state and its citizens, people’s love, and the feeling of pride.
“Garabagh” shikastasi performed by People’s Artist Alim Gasymov and Honoured Artist Fergana Gasymova, “Natig” Group’s “Sary gelin” composition, overture from “Koroghlu” Opera by composer-genius Uzeir Hajibeyli, dances from Gara Garayev’s “Seven Beauties”, Fikret Amirov’s “1001 Night”, Arif Melikov’s “Love Legend” ballets, songs “Ey Vatan”, “Mountains of Shusha” and “Oilmen” performed by People’s artists Azerin, Zulfiyya Khanbabayeva and Samir Jafarov were listened to with great interest. Performances of People’s artists Aygun Kazimova, Azer Zeynalov, Emin, and Elchin Azizov, Honoured artists Emil Afrasiyab, Sabina Babayeva, Tunzala Aghayeva, Miri Yusif and Roya, “Rast” Group, and the exemplary military orchestra of the Azerbaijan Defence Ministry made the audience experience a festive mood.
Music pieces and dances in the programme allowed to once more cast a glance at the history of Azerbaijan.
A video with Azerbaijani people’s national leader Heydar Aliyev’s telling the poem “Azerbaijan” by Samad Vurghun was demonstrated at the event.
Video materials prepared by the Baku Media Centre in connection with the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic too was shown at the event.
Confidence was expressed at the concert that next anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic would be celebrated in the eternally Azerbaijani land Garabagh.
At the end of the concert, as a symbol of unity and solidarity and firm belief in the eternity of our independence, masters of art went out onto the scene and sang the anthem of Azerbaijan.
Over 670 people – renowned art figures and creative staffs - had been involved in the concert programme, which continued for about two hours.
The concert programme in the Baku Crystal Hall was broadcast live on a monitor installed in the Seaside National Park.
At the end of the event, grand festive fireworks took place in the Seaside National Park.
