On June 4, inauguration of the exhibition entitled “Fashion Home” took place at the Heydar Aliyev Centre, presented by the Alexander Vasilyev Foundation.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the inauguration.
At the opening ceremony, President of the Alexander Vasilyev Foundation, collector, fashion historian, art critic Alexander Vasilyev talked about the concept of the exhibition.
Talking about the exhibition’s history of creation, the collector said: “This exhibition was created three years ago, to be later shown at the Latvian National Decorative Art Museum in Riga, and at the Lithuanian National Decorative Art Museum in Vilnius. But for Baku, we introduced an innovation: Old clothes were restored”.
The exhibition is dedicated to the unity of nature and fashion. Some 400 exhibits related to the 18th -21st centuries - garments and accessories, including footwear, bags, hats, jewellery etc. - are shown in the exposition.
Combining nature, history and fashion in one place, the exhibition consists of several sections. Here are displayed fashion examples created by being inspired by jungle and savannah, sea and greenery, as well as other natural themes.
The decoration of the exhibition hall too is rich in natural elements according to the theme.
Exhibits of such famous brands as Paco Rabanne, Christian Dior, Elsa Schiaparelli, Lanvin, Givenchy, Thierry Mugler etc. are displayed in the exhibition. Dresses from private wardrobe of legendary model of the last century Bettina Graziani, American actress Shirley McClain and other famous people are displayed in the exposition.
The exhibition will continue until December 2.
This is the 2nd exhibition presented by the Alexander Vasilyev Foundation at the Heydar Aliyev Centre. At the exhibition “Modernism and fashion”, which ran from October 5, 2017 to April 29, 2018, garments and accessories related to 1960s were demonstrated.
