Khyzy

Khizi Barmak mahal (territorial unit), one of the Azerbaijan corners with magnificent landscape located on the high mountains and green forests, has centuries-old history like thorny path. Barmak is name of mountain, mahal, as well as kin.

Architectural monuments: bathing house built in 1923 in Khizi (the architects are the brothers Mastan and Soltan).

The monuments to the prominent people of the region:

1. The monument to Jafar Jabbarli (architect Jalal Garyagdi), 1999, Khizi.
2. Bust to Mikayil Mushfig (with the personal initiative of colonel philantrophist Abulhasan Ahmadov, the native of Khizi; the bust put in the village of Sayadlar in 1985).

Khizi is located in the north-east of Azerbaijan. It is the nearest to Baku mountainous region. The are of the region is 1711 km 2 , the population is 12565 people. 11035 hectares or 110, 35 km2 of the region are state reserve forests. The climate is mild with dry weather. Khizi has favourable conditions for the development of eco- and ethno-tourism. The border of Khizi with the Caspian Sea stretches long distance, thus it is an excellent opportunity to develop tourism here.

?Jennet Bagi?-the centre of entertainment built in Altiagaj settlement in 1998 has favourable conditions: objects of entertainment and rest, small public service objects on roadsides, i.e. perfect condition to accept local and foreign tourists. The centre is located 16 km away from the centre of the region.
