Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
The region of Mereze was an administrative territorial unit of Azerbaijan during 1920-1930. It became a part of the Shemakhi region after its establishment in 1930. In October 1943, Mereze region separated from the region Shanakhi and preserved its independence until 01.01.1960. The next separation of Mereze from Shamakhi was in April 1990 that later caused the establishment of Gobustan region.
